QR Code Shopping
Ireland’s First QR Code Shopping Experience launched in Cork
QR Code Shopping is Virtually a Whole New Meaning to Window Shopping!
Imagine the ability to relocate your shelves to an area of higher footfall, without the high street prices or rates?!
BundlBee, a small group of innovative Mobile Marketeers, have teamed up with a modest Cork based stationery company, Write Away to bring something a little different to the people of Ireland.
These two small companies have brought together some big ideas in the shape of the country’s first QR Code* Mobile Shopping Experiences. This campaign was visible throughout the streets or Cork through the months of August and September.
This virtual shopping experience for used QR codes on flyers, billboards, posters around Cork city centre. This allowed consumers and Back to School shoppers to purchase great value stationery at their own convenience.
Both companies understand that cost effective prices and high quality products are essential, especially during this difficult climate, when time and money are at a premium.
Did you know that some 77% of Irish Internet users access the Internet through mobile devices? ***
With so many vacant premises in our cities, could we not be using the existing shop windows as platforms to promote businesses that might not be in prime location site in a city or in areas of great footfall?
This would benefit not only the landlords of vacant buildings but retailers and, of course, would bring an incredibly convenient service to customers alike.
BundlBee think outside the box, and have big plans for this platform, bringing it to all aspects of the retail & hospitality sector, but most importantly to various charities who in our opinion, spend far too much money on their mailing campaigns.
In August 2013 Write Away and BundlBee launched Ireland first Virtual Shop with a huge QR Code educational promotion, which ended in hundreds of people scanning QR Codes throughout the day with over 150 winners!
* QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response Code) is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional barcode)
The QR Code system has become popular due to its fast readability and greater storage capacity compared to standard UPC barcodes. Applications include product tracking, item identification, time tracking, document management, general marketing, and much more
QR Codes are the future and offer an amazing platform for retailers and consumers alike. All you have to do is simply download a free QR Code reader to your smart phone. Scan the QR Code and purchase your items using PayPal or credit/debit card.
Retailers are embracing QR codes to support virtual stores that highlight how easy it is for on-the-go consumers to purchase everyday items via their Smartphone.
QR codes make sense for these initiatives because many consumers know what a QR code is and that they can scan one with their Smartphone to link to an online site.
