So Limerick is a Social Network for Limerick, built by the people of Limerick for the people of Limerick.
Three Limerick innovators noticed a massive need for a place of interaction for the locality – a place where people can communicate with each other, get to know what’s happening around the area, their village or town and very importantly get to know one another. SoLimerick.com was the brain child of Mark Manning, Serena Hartigan and Tara Hartigan, collectively BundlBee Ltd., while sitting around a table over 18 months ago and has been gathering momentum ever since its soft launch in January, boasting in the region of an impressive 15,000 hits per month.
So Limerick is a completely free, user-driven platform that acts as a Business directory, an Events calendar, a Place of Interest Directory, and a place for Groups, such as Sporting Groups, Communities, Charities, Associations etc. to promote themselves, host events and engage with each other.
“Effectively this is a smaller, more localised version of Facebook. Facebook is fantastic – if you know what you are looking for, it is just far too big for localised searches.” Serena states
“We are encouraging every business, community group and association to active their presence on the site, offering a platform to boast everything the city and county has to offer. You can host events, no matter how big or small, very simply on the platform and we will share it throughout our own social media outlets.” Tara explains.
“Many of us don’t know just what is on our doorstep, but since launching So Limerick we have noticed just how much is going on, and how many amazing facilities Limerick has. We want to share that with everyone. Our philosophy is simple – Introduce Limerick to Limerick and then Introduce Limerick to the rest of the country and rest of the world” Mark continues.
The founders also believe So Limerick will play a pivotal role in Tourism, offering visitors a one-stop-shop as to all the city and county has to offer. From nature trails, to local music sessions, to checking out or checking-into the nearest restaurant or even to visit a local theatre! And with the view to launching a mobile app towards the end of the summer having your business or venue listed there will be paramount.
Another great advantage of So Limerick is that you can integrate your Facebook and Twitter profiles within it, allowing you to interact with all your social media audience from one easy platform.
There is a Topics & Blogs section where Limerick based individuals and Limerick Diaspora contribute their blogs and musings about their subject of choice, be it their interests, passions or even their professional area of expertise, giving a fascinating insight into Life in Limerick, and Life after Limerick.Over the next few weeks and months they are going to introduce various optional modules that will include e-commerce functionality, such as ticket sales, fundraising, loyalty and coupon add-ons.
BundlBee are encouraging everyone to join and start posting events, promoting businesses, charities, sports clubs, villages and towns… So let’s get Limerick talking!
